Overview

Dimensions: 224cm (W) x 149cm (D) x 216cm (H) Full Specification

The VARA indoor traditional sauna by EIRA® is a genuine Finnish-style sauna, designed in the UK and hand crafted in Europe — a properly made product that sits comfortably inside a home, gym or wellness facility. The exterior is finished in black with smoked glass, a combination that has proved particularly popular with gyms and wellness facilities looking for a sleek, modern option.

Inside, every VARA is clad in 15mm Alder, insulated with 50mm rockwool, protected by a foil vapour barrier, and finished with concealed LED lighting behind the backrest for a soft, warm glow. It’s a specification built around two things: how the sauna performs, and how long it keeps performing.

We typically recommend HUUM heaters and control systems for the VARA range, though this can be changed if you have another preference. Prices shown are therefore ex-heater, with heater options and pricing for your indoor sauna set out below. Sizes and finishes can also be tailored on request.

VARA Indoor Traditional Sauna for sale by EIRA

Lighting

Light shapes how a space feels, and inside an indoor sauna it matters more than most people expect. Every VARA indoor traditional sauna by EIRA® carries concealed LED lighting set behind the backrest, so the source stays hidden and the light washes gently up the timber rather than glaring down at you. It’s a large part of why the cabin photographs the way it does — a soft, warm glow that lifts the natural grain of the wood and makes the space somewhere you actually want to linger, a world away from the flat overhead lighting of a standard indoor sauna.

15mm Thick Alder Internal Wooden Cladding

Every VARA indoor traditional sauna by EIRA® is clad in 15mm Alder — a timber chosen for how it behaves under heat rather than how cheaply it can be sourced. Alder sits comfortably against the skin at temperature and carries a soft, subtly sweet scent that comes forward as the cabin warms, adding a quiet aromatic layer to every session. It’s the wood we generally recommend for indoor saunas: light in tone, stable in a heated environment, and easy on the eye in a domestic or studio setting.

The tongue and groove cladding is deliberately fitted with small gaps throughout. Timber is a living material — it expands and contracts as heat and humidity rise and fall — and it needs somewhere to go. Without room to move, that expansion has to push outwards, and over time the panelling buckles and distorts. The gaps give the wood the space it needs, letting the cabin breathe and keeping an indoor sauna sound and true over years of use rather than forcing the timber to fight its own natural cycle.

We specify non-thermally treated Alder for a reason. Thermal modification is available across most timber species, but it changes how the wood responds to repair, and in a busy commercial setting that difference tells. Scratches, scuffs and knocks are simply a fact of high-traffic use, and untreated Alder can be sanded back and refreshed far more readily than thermally modified timber, where imperfections are considerably harder to work out. It’s a large part of why the VARA range from EIRA® suits gyms, wellness centres and any indoor sauna facing heavy, repeated use.

Rockwool insulation in VARA indoor traditional saunas

Insulated With 50mm Thick Rockwool

Behind the timber of every VARA indoor traditional sauna by EIRA® sits a full 50mm layer of rockwool insulation. It’s a straightforward efficiency measure: better-insulated walls mean the cabin comes up to temperature more readily and holds it more steadily once there, so the heater works less to maintain the session and you spend less time waiting to get in. Rockwool also brings a useful secondary benefit — it adds a degree of acoustic buffering between the cabin and the room around it, which is worth having when an indoor sauna sits alongside a busy gym floor or studio.

Vapour Barrier VARA indoor sauna by EIRA®

Foil Vapour Barrier

Every VARA indoor traditional sauna by EIRA® is built with a foil vapour barrier sitting behind the internal cladding. Its job is to keep moisture where it belongs. A sauna cycles through heat and humidity every time it’s used, and without a barrier that moisture can work its way past the timber and into the frame behind it, where over years it does slow, hidden damage — the kind that shows up long after the point where it can be easily fixed. The barrier holds the moisture on the cabin side, protecting the structure and giving an indoor sauna the working life it should have.

Perfect Indoor Traditional Sauna For Gyms and Wellness Centres

Commercial & High-Traffic Use

The VARA indoor traditional sauna by EIRA® is designed to hold up in commercial settings — gyms, health clubs, wellness centres, spas, hotels, physiotherapy clinics and recovery studios where a sauna runs long hours and sees a steady stream of users.

What makes it suited to commercial use?

Three things, mainly. The first is the timber. VARA cabins are clad in 15mm non-thermally treated Alder, chosen specifically because it can be sanded back and refreshed far more readily than thermally modified wood. Scratches, scuffs and marks are unavoidable in a busy facility, and a cabin that can be brought back to looking new is a very different proposition to one where every mark is permanent. For a commercial operator, that’s the difference between a sauna that ages badly and one that stays presentable across years of service.

The second is the build. A full 50mm of rockwool insulation means the cabin reaches temperature more readily and holds it more steadily, which matters when a sauna is running through an entire opening day rather than an hour at a time. A foil vapour barrier protects the frame from moisture, and the tongue and groove cladding is fitted with deliberate gaps so the timber can expand and contract without buckling.

The third is how it looks. Integrated LED lighting behind the backrest gives the cabin a soft, warm glow, and a sauna that photographs well earns its place in your marketing as well as your facility.

Can VARA saunas be customised for our space?

Yes. Dimensions can be built to suit a specific room, and both the internal timber and the external colour finish can be changed on request. Bespoke specification does carry a higher cost than a standard unit, so it’s worth discussing your requirements early — we’ll give you a clear price before anything is committed.
