The ALVA® uses UV sanitation as standard — and there’s a good reason for that.

UV sanitation works by directly targeting and killing bacteria in the water. Whilst we always recommend using a primary sanitiser such as chlorine alongside it, UV is capable of killing bacteria even without the presence of a primary sanitiser. It is an active, independent line of defence.

Ozone, by contrast, works differently — rather than killing bacteria outright, it weakens bacteria so that less of your primary sanitiser is needed to finish the job. Both systems work toward a similar goal, but the distinction matters.

Put simply — UV is the main character. Ozone is the backup dancer.
